Library
The IDSVA Library is designed to support our innovative curriculum, combining distance learning with immersive residencies. Explore a wealth of resources that enhance your academic journey and foster creative growth.

A Digital Library for Nomadic Research
The Library supports IDSVA’s pioneering curriculum of fusing distance learning with intensive residencies and rigorous academic pursuits. IDSVA’s fully online Library provides graduate-level support through database access and interlibrary loan services as well as reference and instructional support. The Library's collection reflects the interdisciplinary nature of IDSVA's academic program encompassing works on philosophy, visual arts, art theory, aesthetics, cultural studies, and more. Students and Faculty have access to JSTOR, Project Muse, ACLS Humanities Ebook Collections, and the Maine State Library. The Maine State Library provides additional support through interlibrary loans and offers the structure for the digital repository of IDSVA’s dissertations.
The Library also offers access to the MLA Handbook Online, the Oxford English Dictionary, and various Faculty and Alumni publications. The Librarian, Erin Perfect, provides informational expertise, recommends and interprets resources, and offers instructional sessions. The Library is characterized by innovation, adaptability, and a commitment to serving the evolving needs of Students and Faculty. It plays an indispensable role in IDSVA’s commitment to expand the horizons of scholarship through critical inquiry and to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and cross-cultural exchange on a global scale. The Library evolves and thrives as a pillar of IDSVA’s mission and belief in the Artist Philosopher.
